Who will perform your hair transplant?
When you compare hair transplant clinics, it is easy to focus on a technique name or the number of grafts in a quote. There is another question worth asking early: who will assess your hair loss, plan your surgery and carry out each stage?
A useful consultation should give you names and responsibilities, as well as an explanation of the proposed treatment. That makes it easier to understand what you are paying for and who will look after you.
Start with the assessment
Before recommending surgery, a doctor needs to assess the cause of your hair loss, your scalp and the hair available for transplantation. Surgery may be appropriate, but some people are better advised to consider medical treatment or wait. Your consultation should explain that decision. [1]
What do FUE and DHI actually tell you?
FUE describes how small groups of hair follicles, called grafts, are taken from the donor area. DHI is used to describe aspects of implantation, often with an implanter tool. The terms concern different stages of the procedure and can overlap. Ask what the clinic means by each term and why it suits your plan. [2]
A method name alone does not tell you who is operating or what result is realistic. When two clinics recommend the same technique, compare the proposed design, the doctor’s involvement and the follow-up arrangements.
The decisions behind the result
Hairline design starts with your face, existing hair and priorities. Discuss the position and shape with your doctor before surgery, including how the design may look if you lose more hair later. A photo can help explain what you like; it cannot promise that someone else’s result can be reproduced for you.
The donor area also needs a long-term plan. Transplantation moves a limited supply of existing follicles; it does not create an unlimited reserve. Taking too much can leave the donor area visibly thin. Ask how much can reasonably be taken and what that leaves for the future. [3]
The placement of the grafts helps shape the appearance of the new hair. Ask who plans the direction and distribution, who creates the recipient sites and who places the grafts. These responsibilities should be clear before you commit.
Ask for a clear account of the team’s roles
A hair transplant involves a team. “Doctor-led” is a useful starting point, but it needs an explanation. Find out which stages the doctor personally performs and which are assigned to other team members. Ask about their qualifications and who takes responsibility if you need medical help. [4]
- Who will assess me and agree the treatment plan with me?
- Who performs the donor harvesting, recipient-site incisions and graft placement?
- How many patients will my doctor be responsible for that day?
- Who reviews my recovery, and how do I contact them if something concerns me?
Request these details in your written plan. If the arrangements change, you should have an opportunity to discuss them before treatment.
Doctor involvement at Ulusan Clinic
Ulusan Clinic is owned and run by its founding doctors, Dr. Sibel Ulusan and Dr. Zafer Ulusan. Their work includes consultations, medical assessment, treatment planning and hairline design. Dr. Sibel also trains the surgical team. [5]
For patients choosing Dr. Sibel’s Signature package, she personally performs every stage of the hair transplant. With VIP Plus, she designs the hairline, plans the donor area and creates the recipient-site incisions; her trained team carries out graft extraction and implantation under her supervision. The responsibilities for your procedure are set out in your individual plan.
Leave the consultation with answers
You should understand the proposed result, the limitations, the risks and who will care for you. If you are comparing clinics, bring the same questions to each consultation. To discuss treatment at Ulusan Clinic, contact our team and ask for a plan that explains the doctor’s involvement at every stage.
