Exosome Therapy in Hair Loss: How It is Administered?
What is Exosome Therapy?
Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles that carry molecules involved in cell communication. Laboratory and early clinical research is investigating possible applications in hair loss; laboratory activity does not by itself establish effectiveness in patients.
Current evidence on exosome-based therapies for hair loss is primarily derived from experimental, preclinical, and early translational studies. While laboratory findings suggest potential regenerative and angiogenic effects, standardized clinical protocols and long-term safety data are still under investigation.
How Does Exosome Hair Loss Treatment Work?
Doctor Consultation
During the consultation, our doctor listens to your hair loss history, analyzes your hair condition, and provides a tailored treatment plan.
Preparation Process
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are cultured and grown in a laboratory environment. The isolated exosomes are purified, concentrated, and transformed into a solution suitable for clinical use. At Ulusan Clinic, we ensure the proper cold chain storage and handling of these exosome solutions.
Application
Doctor sterilizes the targeted area and applies the exosome solution via micro-needles or injections. The treatment takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.
The Primary Goal:
- Stimulate dormant or miniaturized hair follicles
- Improve the quality and thickness of existing hair
- Support long-term scalp health and potentially delay progressive hair loss
Who Can Benefit from Exosome Hair Loss Treatment?
Exosome-based hair-loss treatments remain under investigation. They should not be described as an established solution for advanced hair loss or as a replacement for transplantation or established medical treatments.
- Androgenetic alopecia: early studies have explored hair-growth outcomes, but consistent products, protocols and long-term evidence are still needed.
- Alopecia areata: evidence is insufficient to promise that exosome treatment will trigger regrowth or control the underlying autoimmune condition.
Who Can Administer Exosome Hair Treatment?
As exosome therapy involves injections, it must only be administered by a qualified medical professional. The exosomes should be stored under cold chain conditions and injected into the correct areas with precision.
